Robert Rauschenberg said,

“Photography has always been part of my vision – my excuse for meddling with what the world looks like”.

This statement, coupled with his artwork was an early stimulus for me within my Fine Art interests, as it seemed to give permission to do anything and everything, especially with mixed media and Photography.

My own attempts at interpretation of this process began in the 1960’s with Pentax cameras. First the noble Spotmatic and later the K1000. These were later followed by my first digital camera, the Fuji F828 – a rather awkward bridge camera, which didn’t fulfil my interests.

Many years later, on retiring to Wales, I joined this club, and my choice of camera had to be Pentax – the K5ii and then the K1. During recent times, health issues have made carrying heavy cameras and lenses very difficult, so the Leica Q2 became my choice as the camera for everyday use. It is small, discrete and versatile with a brilliant Sumillux 28 mm lens. I have kept the ageing Pentax cameras which I use occasionally, when projects call for them.

The accompanying images reflect my continued wish to experiment with photography, drawing and painting, and I think of them as an alternative way of working with the media. The quest goes on for me to find the best way to “meddle with what my world now looks like”.
