CCACC Competition Rules

General
The objectives of the Club competitions are to encourage the submission of prints and projected images for consideration, helpful comment and evaluation.
To provide a regular and renewing source of images for interclub competitions.
To give members a regular fresh challenge.
Ideally the Committee would like to be able to submit an entry from each member of our Club for the Interclub competitions. So support and encouragement for our developing photographers benefits all members and the Club.

1. Eligibility

All fully paid up members of the club shall be eligible to enter all club competitions unless a Committee restriction applies. (i.e. New members only).
The copyright of all entries or components of an entry must belong to the photographer.
Each competition has its own structure, limitations and rules that must be abided by.
The committee has the final ruling on any disputes that may arise from time to time.
In exceptional circumstances the member does not need to be present to enter a competition, as long as the rules have been adhered to for each photograph

2. Common Competition Structures

2.1 All photographs must be submitted using CD, USB memory stick, Print or as designated for film. Files submitted must be titled and all photographs in each file must be labelled according to the instructions for each competition.
2.2 All prints must be titled on the rear of the mount with orientation arrow.
Photographs selected for Interclub competition will be mounted at club meeting’s on a Tuesday evening in a timely manner and will be paid for by the club.
Prints for interclub competitions must be no bigger than 20” x 16” including mounting board.
Slides (2 x 2) must be correctly spotted and bear the name of the author.

3. Judging and Scoring

3.1 Judging will be through External Judge, Committee, or Club membership.
3.2 The Judge’s ruling is final and no discussion will be entered into.
3.3 Scoring will be awarded according to each set of competition rules.
3.4 Club members must not vote for their own submissions.
3.5 The Competition Secretary will be responsible for recording all competition results and points scored in all competitions.
3.6 The Technical Advisor will be responsible for posting all relevant information to the web site in a timely manner usually before the results of the next competition.
3.7 The treasurer will make available club funds to pay for all relevant costs and rewards. All Trophy engravings will be paid for by the club.

Individual Competition Rules and Trophies.

The Monthly Challenge Cup.

The Objective of the Monthly Challenge cup is to encourage all members of all abilities to submit their work in a monthly competition with varying challenges to help improve our photography.
To provide images for future Interclub competitions.
The Monthly Challenge Cup winner will be decided at the November meeting and presented by the President at the annual awards dinner.
The Monthly Challenge Cup is a monthly competition running from December to November.
The Challenge will be selected by the membership through the submission of three challenges by each member annually. These will be separated into suitable seasonal draws, then drawn from the hat by the previous monthly winner.
Photographs must be taken in that month.
Photographs must be submitted on CD or USB stick. Photographs should be submitted in a file with your name on it, and each picture labelled A,B,C,D.
Image resolution must be 1920 x 1080.
Each member must submit 4 photographs of the chosen subject, they can be a mix of colour, black and white or the format that they choose.
The monthly winner will be selected by the members attending.
Best Photograph will be selected by the members, and the winning photograph will be presented in a frame on the wall at the club for rolling 12 months.
The rewards:-
First 3 points plus 1 point for entering
Second 2 points
Third 1 point
Best picture Prize from display

When there is a tie then the points are given equally, so equal second will draw 2 x 2 points and no third prize. Best Picture will have Chairman’s extra-ordinary casting vote as necessary.
The Challenge Cup will be presented at the Annual dinner by the President of our Club

The Arvid Jones Cup

The objective of the Arvid Jones cup is to task the members to produce their very best photographs for the challenge set by the committee.
The committee will select the challenges based on the need to produce quality images for particular genre that the Club are currently weak on for Interclub competitions….. (Birds, Mammals, Macro etc)
This is a quarterly competition allowing ample time for considered well planned shots.
Image quality and sharpness are key considerations.
The Arvid Jones Cup winner will be decided at the November meeting and presented by the President at the annual awards dinner.
Each member will submit 3 Prints 20” x 16” of the chosen topic.
The Quarterly winner will be selected by the members attending.
The winning photographs will be featured on the web site.
The rewards:-
First 9 points
Second 4 points
Third 3 points

When the position is a tie then the Chairman has the casting vote.

The Taylor Lloyd Cup

The objective of the Taylor Lloyd cup is to reward members who have produced the best Monochrome photographs in the previous 12 months.
The competition will take place on the 3rd week of October each year.
Any genre.
Photographs must not have been entered in any previous competitions….those entered for Critique are welcome though.
Prints only, 20” x 16”.
Two photographs can be submitted and each photograph must have a title.
Members present will vote for the winner.
First place print 5 points awarded
Second place print 3 points awarded

Colour Print Cup

The Objective of the Colour Print Cup is to reward members who have produced the best Colour print photographs in the previous 12 months.
The competition will take place on the 3rd meeting in September.
Any genre. Photographs must not have been entered in any previous competitions….those entered for Critique are welcome though.
Prints only, 20” x 16”.
Two photographs can be submitted and each photograph must have a title.
Members present will vote for the winner.
First place print 5 points awarded
Second place print 3 points awarded

Birch Cup

The Objective of the Birch Cup is to reward members who have produced the best projected photographs in the previous 12 months from the Monthly Challenge Best Picture award.
The competition will take place on the 3rd meeting in November.
Photographs from the “wall of Fame” only.
Fully paid up current members only.

Members present will vote for the winner. 9 points awarded

The Taylor Lloyd Memorial Plate

The objective of the Taylor Lloyd Memorial Plate is it reward the member who has produced the best 3 Prints on the theme of Ceredigion.
Submissions on July 17th meeting.
Judged by members present.
First 5 points awarded
Second 3 points awarded

The Presidents Cup

The Member with the highest points from all Club competitions this season. (excepting Monthly Challenge Cup points)
